The AK200, chambered in 5.45x39, was a development of the AK74M model designed to meet the new requirements for the weapon/sights/equipment complex used in modern combat and started the AK20x series of rifles.
The key feature of this series is the ability to mount modern sighting systems on the Picatinny rail (MIL-STD-1913) while retaining high reliability.
The AK20x rifles have improved ergonomics , such as anadjustable folding buttstock, a redesigned fire selector/safety switch, a new pistol grip, a flash suppressor, and a handguard with Picatinny rails.
