100 years of Red Army: Light Antitank Rifle

7.62 mm rifle caliber with an elongated shell and reinforced charge that accelerated armor-piercing bullets up to 1,000 plus meters per second. This bullet could pierce armor up to 2 centimeters at 100 meters. A light antitank rifle based on the Mosin–Nagant rifle was developed in Izhevsk to suit it. However, by the time the weapon had been improved the 20 mm piercing capacity turned out to be insufficient and the project was closed down in favor of weapons for significantly more powerful 14.5 mm caliber cartridges.
