The development of the Kalashnikov assault rifle began in 1943. The Ministry of Defence a decided to make a series of weapons which provided the infantry with the possibility of effective fire at ranges of about 400 meters. The first party of the Kalashnikov assault rifle wsd manufactured in 1948.
