First Russian Drone with Hybrid Powerplant to Be Demonstrated at MAKS-2021
ZALA 421-16E5G UAV

The ZALA 421-16E5G UAV is one of the new designs to be publicly introduced by ZALA AERO (subsidiary of the Kalashnikov Group) at the MAKS-2021 international air show.

The vehicle is designed to conduct aerial monitoring on long routes, which makes it a very valuable asset for the oil and gas sector. First production samples are already being used at the facilities of the fuel and power sector.

The drone can stay airborne for over 12 hours, cover distances of over 1,200 km, and perform aerial monitoring at distances of over 100 km.

Low acoustic signature of the ZALA 421-16E5G is made possible by the silent mode in which the vehicle is powered by a buffer battery. This mode can last up to 1 hour, and the battery can be recharged while airborne, which only takes 2 hours.

The ZALA 421-16E5G is prepared to operate in full radio silence mode in areas with an adverse radio environment at distances of up to 500 km from the launch point. The video navigation feature makes it possible to keep track of the drone even in the absence of satellite navigation signals.

The drone carries a combined payload with two thermal imaging cameras and a video camera with 60x zoom. The video stream is broadcasted in HD (1280×720), so the ground station operator can view the streamed image in the smallest detail.
