Kalashnikov Group continues to work on adapting the Vikhr air-launched guided missiles for use on various platforms.
Initially, the Vikhr-1 missile had been developed and tested for use on Ka-50 helicopters. In 2018, special flight trials for the use of the Vikhr on Ka-52 helicopters were completed.
Currently, Kalashnikov specialists are considering adapting the Vikhr for use on the latest MI-28NE and MI-35P helicopters, as well as Orion-E type unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Vikhr-1 guided missile was introduced at the Army-2020 international military and technical forum. The Vikhr is capable of engaging targets at a distance of up to 10 kilometers, its speed exceeds 600 m/s. The missile's tandem shaped charge warhead is capable of penetrating 750 mm of homogeneous armor behind dynamic protection.
