Kalashnikov to Introduce Version of AK-12 Rifle for Special Forces

At the ARMY 2021 forum, the Kalashnikov Group will introduce the AK-12SP rifle, modified to meet the requirements of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

"The AK-12SP is a version of the AK-12 where a set of technical solutions aimed at further improving its combat effectiveness without altering the parts responsible for the legendary reliability of AK-pattern rifles has been introduced after trials," the Group's media office commented on the new product.

In a bid to improve the weapon's ergonomics, the AK-12SP has been outfitted with a new adjustable buttstock and pistol grip, previously presented on the updated AK-12 at the Army 2020 exhibition. The stock can be optionally fitted with a lightweight folding cheek riser to help the shooter position his head in a convenient way when using a scope. The rifle is fitted with an ambidextrous safety/fire selector switch, comfortable for use by both left- and right-handed shooters.

The AK-12SP is fitted with a new aluminum upper handguard with a Picatinny rail and standard M-LOK slots. The rifle can be fitted with various combinations of modern optoelectronic equipment for effective use in any combat conditions, including at night.
